Based on true crime accounts, "Public Enemies" follows the infamous exploits of the Barker clan. It's the 1930s, and "Ma" Barker (Theresa Russell) leads her boys on a nationwide and bloody crime spree. But then they get a little too ambitious and decide to end their career by kidnapping a millionaire. J. Edgar Hoover (Brian Peck) has dispatched G-man Melvin Purvis (Dan Cortese) to bring down the Barkers, and it's only a matter of time.
